West Warwick, RI – Guill Tool & Engineering Co. has introduced its 900SPR Series of in-line tubing dies that are engineered to meet the exacting precision requirements of close tolerances medical equipment applications.
The 900SPR Series, designed with an adjustable center inline die, ensures excellent precision for close tolerance walls – as thin as .0002″ (.000508cm) – in such applications as multi-layer, multi-lumen, encapsulated stripe(s) and catheter tubing.
“For nearly 40 years, Guill Tool has had a dedicated program for meeting the specialized needs of the medical equipment industry,” said William Conley, sales manager for Guill Tool. “Our advanced 900SPR design is our latest effort to assist medical OEMs with critical improvements to produce thinner walls and closer tolerances for a wide range of medical applications.”
The O. D. range of the 900SPR Series is .005″ – .375″ (.0127cm – .9525cm). This inline tubing die is adaptable to all extruders and is compatible with most styles and brands of tooling on the market today. Guill’s proprietary quick-change tooling feature can be added to many other tooling styles and brands.
Also, the 900SPR Series houses an adjustment mode that has been significantly improved, with a new FeatherTouch™ concentricity adjustment option.
All inline tubing dies from Guill Tool include the multi-port spiral flow splitter with an optional Taperlock™ version. This flow splitter provides a reduced extrudate memory set, low material inventory, balanced material flow distribution and elimination of dead spots.
The flow splitter configuration with the FeatherTouch™ adjustment also eliminates leaking and enables faster assembly and disassembly with less chance of damage to the system. This ensures less downtime and a fast turnaround for maintenance and cleaning.
Other application areas for the 900SPR inline tubing dies include: rubber and plastics, industrial, food services, irrigation, cosmetics and other advanced types of high technology precision products.
Guill Tool also manufactures tips, dies, and breaker plates using state-of-the-art computerized CNC machining and EDM equipment. Engineering services using the latest CAD systems are available for custom designing extrusion tooling products: crossheads, tips, clamps, flanges, air wipes, forming rolls, spiderless inline dies, dies, swing gates, breaker plates, special equipment and sizing dies.
Guill Tool received ISO certification in 1995. The first major extrusion tooling company to meet those international standards. The company has long been recognized as one of the leading established designers and manufacturers of custom extrusion tooling for types of applications including: wire, cable, fiber optics, medical tube, wood composites, automotive tube, plastic compounding, custom applications, rubber, profile, industrial pipe, hose & tube, blow molding, food and packaging.
The company also encourages and provides education and training for the extrusion industry with plastic and aluminum model heads, fully illustrated operating manuals for step-by-step assembly and disassembly, training videotapes, as well as classes on the care and cleaning of extrusion tooling.
Founded in Rhode Island in 1962 by A. Roger Guillemette, the company was established as a job shop supplying tips, dies, crossheads and replacement parts to the wire, cable or wire and cable, plastic and rubber industries in New England and eventually across the US and Canada.
