West Warwick, RI – A new two-headed extrusion tooling system from Guill Tool & Engineering Co. is 40%-50% more productive in manufacturing rubber or silicone end products than conventional single-head systems.
Guill’s new DualFlo™ system employs two identical heads joined by a specially designed metering valve to transform a single extruding machine into one with dual output. This results in bottom line savings in reduced capital costs, labor operating costs, and material costs as well.
With the DualFlo™’s special engineering a multi-layer and multi-stripe capability are standard. And, virtually any existing extruder layout can be configured to accommodate this new system.
“We designed the DualFlo™ to enhance extrusion productivity while meeting the particular needs of OEM and medical tubing manufacturers – who must produce precision tubes with precise diameter and wall thicknesses for today’s advanced technology applications,” said Bill Conley, Guill’s sales manager. “In addition to these precision capabilities, our customers are delighted with the savings on labor, equipment and material compounds.”
Important benefits designed into the DualFlo™ include a fixed center adjustment or a patent-pending FeatherTouch™ adjustment in the die holder – a cartridge-style ball assembly that doesn’t require the loosening of retaining screws to make adjustments.
Guill’s engineers have integrated cooling into the DualFlo™ that uses oil or water apparatus depending on the type of extruder being utilized for the application. This design assures proper temperature control and prevents scorching of the extruded rubber or silicone tubing material.
Further benefits include: Guill’s SealRight™ System that provides a positive seal which eliminates leakage between deflectors, along with easy self-alignment that reduces operator error after cleaning and during assembly.
Engineering services using the latest CAD systems are available for custom designing extrusion tooling products: crossheads, tips, clamps, flanges, air wipes, forming rolls, spiderless inline dies, dies, swing gates, breaker plates, special equipment and sizing dies.
Guill Tool has long been recognized as one of the leading established designers and manufacturers of custom extrusion tooling for types of applications including: wire, cable, fiber optics, medical tube, wood composites, automotive tube, plastic compounding, custom applications, rubber, profile, industrial pipe, hose & tube, blow molding, food and packaging.
The company also encourages and provides education and training for the extrusion industry with plastic and aluminum model heads, fully illustrated operating manuals for step-by-step assembly and disassembly, training videotapes, as well as classes on the care and cleaning of extrusion tooling.
Founded in Rhode Island in 1962, the company was established as a job shop supplying tips, dies, rossheads and replacement parts to the wire, cable and plastic and rubber industries in New England and eventually across the US, Canada, and worldwide.
