West Warwick, RI – Guill Tool has introduced a new line of corrugating extrusion heads engineered for increased design flexibility, enhanced durability and improved crush resistance.
The new patent pending extrusion tooling Series 400 is thus adaptable to a wide variety of corrugated equipment and molds. The Series offers a host of benefits for OEMs, as well as for automotive and medical applications.
The unique tooling includes our multi-port spiral flow design that provides a balanced compound distribution with no weld lines to the corrugator. The elimination of weld lines significantly increases the finished product’s overall strength.
According to Bill Conley, Guill’s Sales Manager, “Initial field tests for the Series 400 indicate that you can increase process speed without compromising the end product’s integrity. Because of higher output rates, increased productivity and profitability do result.”
The extrusion head Series 400 offers Guill’s FeatherTouch™ adjustment in the die holder – a cartridge-style ball assembly that doesn’t require the loosening of retaining screws to make an adjustment.
Additional corrugated tooling advantages include: Guill’s Seal Right System — a positive seal which eliminates leakage between deflectors and allows for easy self-alignment that reduces operator error during assembly. The tooling encompasses a 1-3 layer capability and houses multi-feed port locations to allow for customer variations in their specific extruder layout.
The Series 400 also encompasses other important benefits: a spiderless inline flow, enables no spider lines – room for more air and no cold legs; split balanced flow to enable running fixed center with concentric walls at all speeds; built-in cartridge heaters for even heat distribution; and a fixed center or fully adjustable setting to suit the application’s specific requirements. The system is also easy-to-clean, with quick change-over design.
Series 400 design options include; single tubing, co-extrusion tubing, triple tube, ABA, multi-stripes, spiral flow, interlocking layers for non-compatible materials and multi-lumen capabilities.
Guill Tool also manufacturers tips, dies, and breaker plates using state-of-the-art computerized CNC machining and EDM equipment. In addition, engineering services using the latest CAD systems are available for custom-designing extrusion tooling products such as crossheads, tips, clamps, flanges, forming rolls, spiderless inline dies, dies, swing gates, breaker plates, special equipment and sizing dies.
Guill Tool received ISO 9001 Certification in 1995. The first major extrusion tooling company to meeting international standards, Guill Tool has long been recognized as one of the leading designers and manufacturers of custom extrusion tooling for applications including wire, cable, fiber optics, medical tube, wood composites, automotive tube, plastic compounding, custom applications, rubber, profile, industrial pipe, hose and tube, blow molding, and food and packaging.
Guill Tool also encourages and provides education and training for the extrusion industry with plastic and aluminum model heads, fully illustrated operating manuals for step-by-step assembly and disassembly, training videotapes, and classes on the care and cleaning of extrusion tooling.
Founded in Rhode Island in 1962 by A. Roger Guillemette, Guill Tool was established as a job shop supplying tips, dies, crossheads and replacement parts to the wire and cable and plastic and rubber industries in New England. Later, Guill Tool became a supplier for the entire United States and Canada, and today enjoys a worldwide market presence.
